India records 34, 403 new Covid positive cases in last 24 hours

India on Friday reported 34,403 new Covid positive cases and 320 deaths in 24 hours.

The active case count saw an increase to 3,39,056 today, as per the health ministry data.

The total number of recoveries surged to 3,25,98,424. However, a reduction of 3,867 cases has been recorded in the active Covid-19 caseload.

According to ICMR data, Covid testing was also reduced to an average of 15 lakh per day this week.

When it comes to severely hit state Kerala, after logging 17,681 on Wednesday, has again seen a spike in daily infection Covid count.

Almost 68 per cent of the total COVID-19 cases reported in India are from Kerala.

Apart from Kerala, five other states — Mizoram, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra are seeing a surge in daily new Covid-19 cases, as per the union health ministry.

The government and experts have been urging the states to strictly adhere to covid-appropriate behaviour.

Efforts to ramp up the vaccination process are also going on.

Although, India’s daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.25 per cent. This has been below 3 per cent for 18 days.
