India Thursday recorded maximum fresh coronavirus cases and fatalities. With 4,12,262 new infections and 3,980 deaths, the country reported a new caseload as per the health ministry.
This is for the second time that the caseload tally has breached the 4-lakh mark.
The total death toll now stands at 23,01,68 while the infection tally has increased to 2,10,77,410, as per the data updated at 8 am.
Karnataka remains among those states that reported one of the biggest surges in cases. Others being Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Bengal, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Assam, J&K, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Puducherry and Mizoram.
Moreover, the Principal Scientific Advisor to Centre K Vijay Raghavan Wednesday said that a third wave of COVID-19 is inevitable and we should be prepared for it.
Scientists in India and worldwide are also doing research regarding the variants of COVID-19. Furthermore, India has been receiving the essential equipment to fight coronavirus disease from various countries across the world.
