India on Friday reported 62,480 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. And the daily recoveries continue to outnumber the daily new cases.

Maharashtra has the highest number of coronavirus infections in India. It is followed by Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

India’s daily test positivity rate continues to decline. Currently, there are 20 states and UTs where the coronavirus active caseload is less than 5,000 and a drastic reduction is being noted in almost all states.

The top five countries by the total number of deaths are the United States, Brazil, India, Russia and Mexico. These represent about 50 per cent of all deaths in the world.

Moreover, scientists in India have been warning against any negligence in following Covid appropriate behaviour.
