India records over 366K COVID-19 cases; Centre issues guidelines on black fungus

India Monday recorded 3,66,161 fresh COVID-19 cases in a day. This now pushes the tally to 2,26,62,575, as per the Union health ministry data.

The death count stands at 2,46,116 with 3,754 daily deaths. Of all ten states account for over 73 per cent of new COVID-19 cases.

Maharashtra, Karnataka and Delhi are among 10 states that account for 73.91 per cent of the 3,66,161 new COVID-19 cases registered in a day as per the Union Health Ministry data.

In the eye of rising COVID-19 cases, many states have gone for lockdown like restrictions. Uttar Pradesh has extended the duration of the corona curfew with strict lockdown-like curbs till May 17.

Haryana was already under a seven-day long lockdown from May 3, has extended it till May 17.

Moreover, the Centre has issued an advisory in order to reduce the infection rate among people. The guideline also states that the fungal infection mainly affects people who are on medication that also reduces their ability to fight environmental pathogens.

Besides, several countries are sending India aid and essentials to fight COVID-19.
