India Hits Back After Kashmir Attack – What Happened?

Something very serious happened between India and Pakistan. A few days ago, some tourists were killed in the Indian area of Kashmir. India believes terrorist groups from Pakistan were behind this bad act.

To stop them and give a strong message, India sent its fighter planes to Pakistan and attacked the places where these dangerous groups were staying.

Who Did India Attack?

India said it attacked two groups:

  1. Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM)

  2. Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT)

These groups are very dangerous and have done many bad things in the past. Many countries, like the USA and the United Nations, have also called them terrorist groups.

Who Are Their Leaders?

  • JeM’s boss is Masood Azhar. He started the group after being released from an Indian jail in 1999. Some other bad people like Osama bin Laden helped him.

  • LeT’s leader is Hafiz Saeed. He has been blamed for the big Mumbai attacks in 2008, where many people died.

Where Did India Strike?

India sent planes to places in Pakistan where these groups were hiding. One of those places is called Muzaffarabad.

What Did Pakistan Say?

Pakistan said it had nothing to do with the Kashmir attack and that it also fights bad people. But now Pakistan is angry and said it will respond, though it hasn’t said how yet.

What Is the World Saying?

Some countries are saying India has a right to protect itself but they also want both countries to stay calm and not start a war.
