Indo-China face-off: Over 200 Chinese PLA troops were armed with spiked clubs, sticks

Published Date:

Indian and Chinese troops clashed along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Yangtze in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh on Friday. The face-off reportedly left “12 to 15” Indian soldiers and a “higher number” of Chinese injured.

According to reports, more than 200 Chinese soldiers involved in the clash came armed with spiked clubs and sticks.

Both sides received injuries in the clash, however, the number of injured Chinese troops could rise, sources were quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

As per sources, over 300 Chinese troops attempted to get access to the top of 17,000-ft peak. However, they were thwarted by Indian Army jawans. The Chinese side had plans to uproot an Indian post but the Indian side successfully averted their attempt.

Congress slams Centre

Meanwhile, the Congress has slammed the Centre over the clash, urging the government to ‘explain’ to Beijing in a ‘stern tone’.

“There is news of a clash between the soldiers of India and China in Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh. The time has come for the government to leave its wavering attitude and explain to China in a stern tone that its act will not be tolerated,” Congress’s official Twitter handle INC India shared.
