Indore Student Suicide

Indore:  A tragic incident has unfolded in Indore, where a 19-year-old student, Gaurav Hada, took his own life after being accused of rape by a female teacher. The student's family claims that the teacher had been harassing and threatening Gaurav for some time.

Allegations of Extortion and Harassment

According to the family, the teacher lodged a rape complaint against Gaurav at the Mahila Police Station. They allege that police officials at the station demanded ₹3 lakh to 'settle' the case, and Gaurav was only released after they paid ₹45,000. The family claims that after this ordeal, Gaurav returned home on Tuesday night, distraught and in tears. Shortly thereafter, he was found hanging in his room.

Family's Response and Protests

After discovering Gaurav’s body, the family rushed him to a nearby hospital and then to MY Hospital, where he was declared dead. In protest against the alleged mishandling of the case and police corruption, Gaurav's family placed his body outside the Mahila Police Station and demanded the suspension of Inspector Kaushalya Chouhan. The family is also calling for justice and accountability from the authorities.

Police and Teacher's Statements

Additional Commissioner Amit Singh revealed that the teacher had accused Gaurav of threatening to make their private videos public. However, Gaurav's family denies these allegations. Additional DCP Priyanka Dudve confirmed that the teacher had initially lodged a complaint but later presented an affidavit stating that both parties had reached a compromise and that she did not wish to pursue an FIR.

The family claims that Gaurav, who was also taking English tuition, became involved with the teacher over an 11-month period. They allege that the teacher blackmailed him, demanding money and restricting his interactions with other girls. The family also asserts that they presented chat evidence to the police showing that Gaurav did not commit rape, but were still pressured for a bribe.

Investigation and Community Response

The case has attracted significant attention, with the community and Gaurav's family demanding a thorough investigation into the allegations of police corruption and the teacher's conduct. The tragic event underscores the urgent need for accountability and transparency in handling sensitive cases involving allegations of abuse and misconduct.
