"Ishwar Allah Tero Naam" Song Sparks Uproar at BJP Event; Singer Devi Apologizes, Here's Why

Popular Bhojpuri singer Devi, who performed at a BJP event in Patna marking the 100th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, faced protest when she sang "Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram," a Gandhi-era hymn that includes the line "Ishwar Allah Tero Naam." BJP workers staged a protest and wanted her not to sing that on stage. The protests soon turned violent, prompting intervention by senior leader Ashwini Choubey and his son to restore order.
Singer Devi Apologizes Amid Controversy
In the midst of the row, Devi apologized saying she never wanted to hurt anybody's sentiments and discontinued singing the hymn mid-performance. She then moved on to sing another devotional song. Later, BJP workers claimed that the hymn was inappropriate for the event and further fuelled the controversy.

Lalu Yadav Criticizes BJP
The incident drew sharp remarks from RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, who on social media mocked BJP, saying their workers disrupted a hymn associated with Gandhi, highlighing their intolerance. The episode has sparked political debates in Bihar.
