Jabalpur Rape Case: Man Poses as Hindu on Shaadi.com, Allegedly Rapes Woman
Jabalpur Rape Case: A 37-year-old woman from Jabalpur was allegedly raped by a man who posed as a Hindu on the matrimonial website, Shaadi.com. The incident, which occurred at a hotel in the Lordganj area, has led to the arrest of Mohammad Hussain. The police have registered a case against him under various charges, including rape, exploitation, and the provisions of the SC/ST Act.
Victim Reaches Out After Betrayal
The woman, who hails from the Kotwali area of Jabalpur, had been in touch with Mohammad Hussain through his fake profile on Shaadi.com. Posing as a man named “Rahul,” Hussain convinced the woman that he was interested in marrying her. On September 22, he invited her to a meeting at Darpan Hotel in the Lordganj area. There, he allegedly assaulted her under the false pretenses of marriage.
After the assault, Mohammad Hussain began making threats to silence the woman and refused to marry her as promised. Distressed and feeling unsafe, the woman approached the police the following day, filing a formal complaint.
Accused Arrested, Case Filed
The Lordganj police acted promptly, arresting Mohammad Hussain shortly after receiving the complaint. The case has been registered against him under the sections of rape, exploitation, and provisions under the SC/ST Act.
Authorities are now investigating the situation further, looking into whether there have been any prior incidents involving Mohammad Hussain or if he has been involved in similar crimes.
Shaadi.com and Online Safety Concerns
This incident highlights growing concerns over online matrimonial platforms like Shaadi.com, which are increasingly being used for malicious purposes. While such platforms provide a legitimate service for people seeking marriage, this case raises questions about their ability to ensure user safety.
