Jaipur hospital rat scandal: A 10-year-old boy with blood cancer, unfortunately met death at State Cancer Institute Jaipur. The patient died reportedly after a rat nipped at the toe of the bed-ridden boy. He cried with his blood oozing from the toe of his foot. Even though the parents brought it to the notice of the nurses, they were not interested, and the wound was bandaged.
Hospital's Action
According to the hospital superintendent Dr. Sandeep Jasuja, the child admitted in critical condition with ulcers all over his body came in. The mother had seen that rat, said hospital administration, but they could not confirm the presence. According to Dr. Jasuja, despite their best efforts to save the boy, whose health was deteriorating seriously, he could not be saved.
Sanitation Concerns
The superintendent admitted the hospital still faced problems regarding its cleanness, noting that recently hired contractors delayed the cleanup in the hospital. The hospital, therefore, has exposed serious hygienic concerns and, even more so, patient safety at the place to the public's anger.
