Jaipur Tragedy: Friends Accused of Setting Youth on Fire Over Minor Argument
A minor argument between friends in Rajasthan's Jaipur district turned into a horrific incident, killing a youth, Rakesh Gurjar. The incident took place on Thursday evening around 7 PM in the Bagru area's Ramsinghpura village. According to reports, a group of youths was sitting at a secluded spot on Begas Boraj Road when a disagreement turned violent. Two friends allegedly poured petrol on Rakesh and set him on fire.
Locals who saw Rakesh engulfed in flames rushed to douse the fire and alerted the police. Despite this, Rakesh had severe burns and was rushed to SMS Hospital, where he died during treatment. The incident left senior police officers, including DCP Amit Budania and ACP Hemendra Sharma, visiting the spot and beginning an investigation. Forensic teams collected evidence from the spot.
Friends Involved in the Incident
Mohar Singh Gurjar, the father of Rakesh, lodged a complaint at the Bagru police station, saying that his son had been taken from their house around 1 PM by his friends, Manoj Kumawat and Harimohan Meena. Later that evening, the family received the worst news of all: Rakesh had been burned alive. He further added that one of Rakesh's friends made a video recording of the whole incident, in which before dying, Rakesh accused Manoj and Harimohan of this abhorrent act.
Investigation is Underway
Police have filed a case and begun a manhunt for the perpetrators. However, no formal statement has been issued in regard to the arrests. Rakesh's body was sent for post-mortem examination before it was handed over to his family. The local community is still reeling with shock over the incident, while the authorities are redoubling their efforts to catch the perpetrators and find the motive behind the heinous act.
