A scandal has erupted in Bagalkot as JDS leader Prakash Mudhol is accused of defrauding the revered Ramarudha Mutt's Paramramarudh Swamiji of ₹1 crore. The incident has raised eyebrows, leading to his arrest. Here are the key details:

Fraudulent Claims: Prakash Mudhol allegedly impersonated an Assistant Director General of Police (ADGP) and threatened the seer over the phone, claiming he would be sent to jail unless he paid a hefty sum.

Extortion Tactics: The accused demanded ₹1 crore to close purported cases against the swamiji, employing intimidation and coercive language during the calls.

Money Transactions: After receiving threats, the seer gathered funds from devotees and handed over ₹61 lakh in cash and two blank cheques to an associate of Mudhol near the Vidhana Soudha.

Continued Demands: Even after receiving the initial sum, Mudhol reportedly continued to press for more money, prompting the swamiji to file a complaint with the police.

Police Action: Based on the seer’s complaint, the police registered an FIR and successfully apprehended Mudhol, recovering the extorted money in the process.
