Jhansi Jail Officer Attacked by Unknown Assailants While En Route to Railway Station

Jhansi Jail Officer Kasturi Lal Gupta was assaulted by unknown assailants on Saturday afternoon while on his way to the railway station. The incident happened in the Nawabad locality when the assailants came in a car and intercepted Gupta's vehicle and attacked him there. Gupta was seriously injured and was taken to district hospital by the police.

Nawabad SHO Deependra Kumar Singh has said that the identity of attackers and the motive behind attacking are still under investigation. Prima facie, the accused persons are sons of the inmate Kamlesh Yadav, who was recently shifted from Jhansi Jail to Hamirpur Jail. It is reported that Kamlesh's sons were annoyed at the transfer, and an investigation is being carried into their alleged involvement.

Police are waiting for a statement from the injured jail officer to obtain more details. An investigation into the incident has been initiated and the culprits have been apprehended.
