J&K: Another encounter underway in Poonch

Just hours after five jawans of the Indian Army were killed in Poonch, another encounter began nearby. As per ANI, army personnel was injured in the latest encounter around 2km from the site of the earlier gunfight.

A JCO and four soldiers were killed in a forested area in Surankote. It was during an anti-insurgency operation that the five jawans got martyred.

Also, the operation was launched early on Monday in a village in the Dehra Ki Gali area. As the army had received intelligence input about the presence of terrorists.

The insurgents opened fire on the Indian Army during the cordon-and-search operation initiated by the army.

The JCO and the four soldiers had got critically injured in the gunfight. Soon they were evacuated to the nearest medical facility but they succumbed to their injuries.

As per the officials, there are reports about the presence of a group of heavily-armed terrorists in the Chamrer forest after they managed to sneak from across the Line of Control.

Moreover, reinforcements were rushed to the area to plug all escape routes to ensure the terrorists are caught.
