The incident occurred on January 24 at the Mahamandir locality of Jodhpur; Maulik was playing cricket with his friends, and another set of children insisted to join them. The children argued; Maulik refused. Argument turned into brutality.

They were attacked with cricket stumps and sent into a coma

In a fit of rage, they started hitting him on the head repeatedly by catching pieces of plastic cricket stumps. He somehow reached home; his condition aggravated, and when his mother took him inside, he fell unconscious; foam coming out from his mouth.

He was rushed to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, where doctors declared that he had slipped into a coma. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later referred to Mathuradas Mathur Hospital, where he underwent brain surgery. However, despite all efforts, he succumbed to his injuries late on Tuesday night.

Police Action and Legal Proceedings

After the boy's death, his father, Amit Dave, filed a complaint at Mahamandir Police Station, and the police started an investigation. The police identified the attackers with the help of CCTV footage of the incident. Three minor suspects were taken into custody and presented before the Juvenile Justice Board, after which they were sent to a juvenile correction home.

Post-Mortem and Funeral

Considering the sensitive nature of the case, Jodhpur District Collector Gaurav Agarwal allowed a post-mortem to be conducted right away in the dead of night. The boy's body was given to his family for last rites.

This incident raises serious questions on the rise in violence among the minors and has brought an absolute need for tight supervision over the cases. Police are further continuing their investigations and the authorities have requested parents and the community to train children to solve disputes without any sort of violence.
