Journalist Rohit Sardana’s demise: PM Modi, Amit Shah offer condolences

In a huge shock to media fraternity, Television journalist and anchor Rohit Sardana died on Friday due to Coronavirus. Rohit Sardana was known for anchoring popular show ‘Dangal’ on Aaj Tak, while he previously worked with Zee News, where he used to host ‘Taal Thok Ke’, a debate show.

In 2018, the government awarded Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Puraskar to Sardana. The media fraternity as well as politicians paid tributes to Sardana on social media.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Sardana has left a huge void in the media world.

“Rohit Sardana left us too soon. Full of energy, passionate about India’s progress and a kind hearted soul, Rohit will be missed by many people. His untimely demise has left a huge void in the media world. Condolences to his family, friends and admirers. Om Shanti,” tweeted PM Modi.

Home Minister Amit Shah condoled his demise, saying the country has lost a brave journalist.

“Pained to learn about Shri Rohit Sardana ji’s untimely demise. In him, the nation has lost a brave journalist who always stood up for unbiased and fair reporting. May God give his family the strength to bear this tragic loss. My deepest condolences to his family and followers,” Shah tweeted.

Senior India Today journalist and anchor Rahul Kanwal paid tribute to Sardana as he wrote:

“Rohit Sardana was the sharpest young anchor I have met. Superb command over Hindi, brilliant with his turn of the phrase, precise questions, clear in his thinking, loved by the masses, warm and humble off the screen, he was destined for great things. Our newsroom is in deep shock,” he wrote.

-Rohit Sardana was born on September 22, 1979.

-In 2017, he left Zee News to join Aaj Tak, where he hosted the popular debate show Dangal. Since 2004, Sardana was with Zee News.

-He was a recipient of the 2018 Ganesh Vidyarthi Puraskar Award.

-Sardana had a Bachelor of Arts degree. From 2000 to 2002, Sardana earned a post-graduate degree in mass communication from Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology.

-Sardana was married to Pramila Dixit and the couple has two daughters
