Kanpur: Accused Attacks Police Inside Station, Two Officers Injured
In Kanpur, a Baradevi assault case accused attacked police officers with a glass object inside Anandpuri chowki, injuring a sub-inspector and a constable. The accused was arrested on the spot while women from his side created chaos outside the chowki.
Kanpur: A shocking incident unfolded inside the Anandpuri police chowki in Kanpur, where an accused—summoned for assaulting a constable—attacked police personnel with a glass object, injuring a sub-inspector and a constable.
The accused was brought in for interrogation on the complaint lodged by a constable about the earlier incident of assault at Baradevi Chauraha in the Kidwai Nagar police station area. The accused, however, refused to cooperate and went violent within the police outpost.
After the attack, women from the side of the accused rallied outside the chowki and made a commotion and tried to hamper police action. But the police moved quickly and arrested the accused on the spot.
On further inquiry, it was found that the accused was previously wanted by the police in a different case registered at Sen Pashchim Para police station.
Quote: The accused is a habitual offender and now also has additional charges for assaulting law enforcement personnel within the chowki," said Mahesh Kumar, ADCP South.
