Kanpur Cyber Crime Unit Busts Fake Overseas Job Racket, Four Arrested

Kanpur, India – In a major breakthrough, the Kanpur Cyber Crime Branch has dismantled a fake overseas job racket, arresting four individuals involved in duping job seekers with false promises of employment abroad.
The arrested accused have been identified as Hariom Pandey, Anurag Dixit, Ariba Ansari, and Kirti Gupta. According to officials, the gang operated by luring people with offers of lucrative jobs in foreign countries and then extorting money under various pretexts.
During the raid, the cyber police seized a substantial amount of digital equipment used in the operation. The recovered items include three laptops, nine smartphones, 14 keypad mobile phones, eight mobile SIM cards, a Jio Wi-Fi router, two bank passbooks, seven debit cards, and a Hyundai Verna car.
The arrest was made possible due to the swift action and teamwork of officers from the Cyber Crime Police Station, including Sunil Kumar Verma, Sub-Inspectors Puneet Tomar and Harendra Tomar, Head Constables Ajay Pratap and Jitendra Kumar, Constable Nitin Kumar, and Lady Constable Soni Yadav. Their collective efforts played a crucial role in nabbing the suspects and busting the fraudulent operation.
The case highlights the growing trend of cyber-enabled job frauds in India and the critical role cyber units play in safeguarding citizens from digital deception.
Police officials have urged the public to remain cautious about job offers that appear too good to be true and to report any suspicious activity to the cyber crime helpline.
