Kanpur, April 18, 2025 – It was a saga of bravado in Kanpur's Babupurwa area when a thief of mobile phones was caught red-handed and thrashed on the spot — not by the police, but by a dauntless girl.
The incident occurred when two robbers, after stealing a mobile phone, attempted to escape on a bike. But their bike crashed into an e-rickshaw in the middle of the road, and both fell. While one escaped, the other got stuck in the crowd.

In a gallant action, one of the female students tackled the thief and apprehended him alone. She began punching him with her sandals in the middle of the road, as people gathered and joined in punishing him.
The police were alerted in time and arrived on the scene to arrest the apprehended suspect. A search is ongoing for the second accused who ran away.
