Pakistani Spy Caught in Kanpur: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested a man in Kanpur for allegedly leaking sensitive information from the Ordnance Factory to a Pakistani intelligence agency via social media.
ATS Investigation Uncovers a Major Espionage Operation
On March 13, 2025, the ATS arrested Ravi Kumar, who was working at Ordnance Factory, Hazratpur, Fatehpur. Investigations revealed that he was in contact with a Pakistani agent, Neha Shami, and was sharing confidential and classified documents related to the factory’s operations.
WhatsApp Used to Transmit Secret Information
According to reports, Kumar Vikas, a Junior Works Manager at Ordnance Factory Kanpur, got in touch with Pakistani agent Neha Shami in January 2025 through Facebook. The agent posed as an employee of Bharat Heavy Electronics Limited (BHEL) and initiated communication through WhatsApp.
To maintain secrecy, the accused used the Ludo app for encrypted conversations. He then shared crucial factory documents, production details, attendance sheets of employees, and images of factory machinery with the Pakistani agent.
A Threat to National Security
This espionage operation posed a severe threat to India’s sovereignty and national security. The leaked information could have been used for anti-national activities.
The ATS Lucknow has registered an FIR (No. 02/2025) under Section 148 of BNS and Sections 3/4/5 of the Official Secrets Act. The accused has been arrested in Kanpur, and further investigations are underway.
