Kerala Pension Scam: The Kerala Finance Minister called the discovery of over 1,400 government employees misappropriating pension funds meant for the poor "shocking." He assured a thorough investigation and vowed to recover the misused funds from the involved officials.
An investigation by the Information Kerala Mission has revealed a massive scam where 1,458 state government employees were found to be illegally collecting social welfare pensions meant for the economically weaker sections of society.

These pensions were being misappropriated by government officials for personal gains. Such an occurrence shocked the authorities concerned since all these beneficiaries were getting elderly citizen and widow benefits etc. Thus, money designed for the benefit of needy and gullible citizens was diverted by corrupt individuals holding vital government positions, which seriously tainted the overall state machinery involved.
The Kerala Finance Minister has termed the findings as deeply disturbing and promised to take swift action. All those involved in the scam will be identified, and the misappropriated funds will be recovered from the accused. The state government has also made it clear that it will ensure that such fraudulent practices are eradicated and that the social welfare system is protected for those who genuinely need it.
