Killer Heatwave! These 5 states to witness sweltering temperatures

Published Date:

India will witness a severe heatwave in the coming days. IMD has announced a heatwave warning for five states.

This is going to be the “hottest summer ever” for India. As large parts of the country continue to report temperatures around 45 degrees Celsius.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heatwave conditions in large parts of India for at least the next five days. “Rise by about 2 degrees Celsius in maximum temperatures very likely over most parts of Northwest India during next three days and fall by about 2 degrees Celsius thereafter,” the report said.

The states of Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, UP and Odisha will experience temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius.

These severe conditions are likely to persist till the first week of May. These intense heatwave conditions will increase the chances of rain.

Also, mercury remains on an upward trend in central India with temperatures in MP and UP crossing 45 degrees Celcius.

Notably, Delhi witnessed yet another warm morning as the weather office predicted a heatwave in the region during the day.

The weather office has also predicted the temperature in the Delhi to touch 44 degrees Celsius by Friday.

In the UT of Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu also recorded its hottest day of the season. The soaring temperatures have also led to power cuts and water crises in different parts of J&K.

For this year 2022, Northwest India recorded the hottest March in 122 years. It nears around the average maximum temperature surpassing the previous record of 30.67 degrees Celsius in 2004.
