Kolkata Doctor Case: Accused Sanjay Roy Demands Egg Chow Mein in Jail, Rejects Routine Meals

Kolkata: Sanjay Roy, the accused in the notorious Kolkata doctor rape and murder case, has made an unusual request while in custody at the Presidency Jail. Bored with the routine jail meals of roti and sabzi, Roy has demanded egg chow mein from the jail authorities. His dissatisfaction with the standard food provided to inmates has raised eyebrows, though his request was ultimately denied by the authorities.

According to reports, Sanjay Roy, who is currently held in Presidency Jail, expressed his displeasure with the regular jail meals and requested egg chow mein instead. However, the jail administration, adhering to standard protocol, prepares the same food for all prisoners, and therefore, Roy's request was turned down.

Demand for Extra Sleep

This isn't Roy's first unusual request since being taken into custody. Upon his transfer from CBI custody to Presidency Jail, Roy had asked for extra sleep time and was often heard mumbling to himself. Jail officials reported that he eventually adjusted to the routine and agreed to eat the provided meals after some persuasion.

Only One Arrest So Far

Sanjay Roy is the only arrest made in the Kolkata doctor rape and murder case so far. He was a civic volunteer with the Kolkata Police before his involvement in this heinous crime led to his arrest. Roy is currently under judicial custody.

Investigation of Former RG Kar Hospital Principal

In addition to the ongoing investigation into the doctor’s murder, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has also been probing financial irregularities at RG Kar Hospital, where Sanjay Roy had been employed. The CBI has questioned former RG Kar Hospital Principal Sandeep Ghosh for over 140 hours concerning these financial irregularities. An FIR has been registered against Ghosh and others, and the CBI has conducted searches at Ghosh’s residence as part of the investigation.

The case has shocked the city, and the investigation continues as authorities seek justice for the victim.
