Kolkata Doctor Rape-Murder Case: CCTV Footage Shows Accused Sanjoy Roy Entering RG Kar Seminar Room
Kolkata: CCTV footage has surfaced showing Sanjay Roy, the prime suspect in the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, walking in the corridor of the facility on the night of the crime. The footage, which has been circulating on social media, captures Roy moving towards the seminar room on the fourth floor on August 9, just hours before the heinous act was allegedly committed.
In the video, Roy is seen wearing jeans and a t-shirt, holding a helmet commonly issued to Kolkata Police personnel. He is also seen with a Bluetooth device around his neck as he enters the seminar room. This device was later recovered from the crime scene, and when investigators paired it with Roy’s mobile phone, it was successfully connected, further implicating him in the crime.
Reports indicate that Roy was seen exiting the seminar room approximately 40 minutes after entering, though the footage of his exit is missing. However, based on the available evidence, including the CCTV footage and the Bluetooth device, Kolkata Police arrested Roy. During questioning, Roy reportedly confessed to the crime.
Sources within the CBI, now handling the investigation following a Calcutta High Court directive, described Roy as a "sexual pervert" who displayed no remorse during interrogation. Prior to the CBI's involvement, Kolkata Police had discovered a significant amount of pornographic content on Roy’s seized mobile phone.
