Kolkata Rape-Murder Case: CBI Fails to File Chargesheet in 90 Days, Sandeep Ghosh and Abhijit Mandal Granted Bail
The death of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College in the case of the Kolkata Rape-Murder is not yet able to be completed by the CBI chargesheet within 90 days. Former principal of the RG Kar Medical College and former IC Tala police station Abhijit Mandal were sent to judicial custody after they furnished bail with a personal bond of ₹2,000 in court.
Bail conditions and investigation still on
Although both are granted bail, some conditions are placed, and Mandal's bail is granted only on satisfactory fulfillment of these conditions. Ghosh, however, is detained because there are corruption allegations against him in a case of RG Kar Medical College.
CBI fails and is alleged for
The CBI had accused Ghosh and Mandal of tampering with evidence and influencing the investigation in the rape-murder case. However, the agency's failure to submit a chargesheet on time weakened its case, and the court granted bail.
Family Reaction
The victim's father expressed his disappointment over the bail and accused the CBI of mishandling the investigation. He vowed to seek justice by appealing to a higher court.
