Local Train Derails at Kalyan Station in Mumbai, No Injuries Reported

On Friday, October 18, a local train derailed at Kalyan station in Thane district, about 60 kilometers from Mumbai. The incident occurred around 9:00 PM when one coach of the Titwala-CSMT local train went off the track as it entered platform number 2. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, according to Central Railway officials.
A spokesperson for Central Railway confirmed that the rear coach derailed at a slow speed as the train was nearing the platform, preventing any serious damage or injuries.
The derailment caused disruptions on the mainline, prompting the diversion of four long-distance trains departing from CSMT via the Diwa-Panvel-Pune route instead of the usual Kalyan-Kasara route. The authorities are working to re-rail the coach, with services expected to resume once the tracks are declared safe.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Central Railway's Mumbai Division DRM Rajnish Goyal apologized for the delays, stating that services were running behind schedule due to a technical issue and expressing regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers.
