Lucknow Heavy Rainfall: Torrential Rains Flood UP Assembly, CM Yogi Adityanath Evacuated Through Alternate Gate
Lucknow continues to reel under heavy rainfall, as predicted by the meteorological department, which had issued an advance alert. Citizens were advised to stay indoors due to the severity of the downpour. The relentless rain has caused significant flooding in various parts of the city, including the UP Assembly building.
The ground floor of the Assembly was completely submerged, with water filling up rooms and soaking various items. Workers were seen using buckets to remove the water from the premises. When asked about the situation, employees mentioned that they had never witnessed such a scenario before. Additionally, rainwater was leaking from the ceilings, further complicating the situation.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was present in the Assembly when the flooding occurred. He was later evacuated through an alternate gate due to the waterlogged conditions.

The heavy rain also led to water entering the Secretariat, causing further disruptions. Army personnel were seen climbing walls and gates to navigate through the flooded areas. The Hazratganj area and several other parts of Lucknow experienced severe waterlogging, affecting the movement of people and vehicles. Water entered multiple offices, including those of the municipal corporation.
In response to the flooding, Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Singh Yadav took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express his concerns. He posted, "The UP Assembly needs the most budget allocation; if this is the state after one heavy rain, then the rest of the state is at God's mercy..."
