Mahakumbh Fire: A devastating fire broke out at the Geeta Press camp during the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Sunday, destroying around 180 cottages, five motorcycles, and cash worth ₹5 lakh. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but two individuals sustained injuries and were hospitalized.

The fire started around 4 PM in Sector-19 of the Mela area, originating in straw before intensifying due to an LPG cylinder explosion. The blaze quickly spread to nearby bamboo cottages, reducing them to ashes. The strong winds further fueled the fire, causing widespread destruction.

Geeta Press Trustee Krishna Kumar Khemka stated that the fire may have come from outside the designated area. He added that strict precautions were taken to prevent fires, yet the blaze destroyed everything, including their well-constructed tin-shed kitchen.

Injuries: Two individuals from Haryana and Siliguri suffered burns and are undergoing treatment.
