Maharashtra Assembly Election Result: Swara Bhasker Doubts EVM Charging After Husband Fahad Ahmed Loses
Following her husband Fahad Ahmed’s loss in Maharashtra’s Anushakti Nagar constituency, Swara Bhasker questioned the Election Commission over EVM functionality, alleging unusual voting patterns favoring the BJP-backed NCP candidate. Her concerns align with Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut’s claims of irregularities in the election results, as the Mahayuti alliance heads for a landslide victory.
Maharashtra Assembly Election Result: Mahayuti alliance surges towards a huge victory, leading in 217 out of 288 seats of the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Meanwhile, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) seems to have taken a huge blow as their tally might be below 55. In the midst of these shocking results, questions have been raised over the credibility of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker has joined the debate after her husband, Fahad Ahmed, lost from the Anushakti Nagar constituency.
Swara Bhasker Questions EVM Charging
Fahad Ahmed, an NCP candidate of the Sharad Pawar faction, was up against Ajit Pawar-backed NCP Sana Malik. Swara Bhasker took to Twitter after her husband's defeat seeking to know how EVM machines were 99% charged all through the day of election. She says that the moment those 99% charged machines were opened, votes seemed to be going in favor of the BJP-backed NCP candidate. Swara sought clarification from the Election Commission which added fuel to the ongoing controversy.
Political Leaders Sound Alarm Clash
Earlier, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut also said that the outcome was not reflecting the sentiments of the people of Maharashtra, and there was a discrepancy with the results. Interestingly, he even questioned the abnormal accuracy of Mahayuti predictions, with even Chief Minister Eknath Shinde suggesting that there were no losses for his candidates.
Such a tweeted action by Swara has also prompted other opposition leaders to ask similar questions regarding the propensity of the votes going transparent, to which the Election Commission of India has remained silent, as debate over EVM reliability turns hotter.
