Maharashtra CM: Devendra Fadnavis Gave a Special Gift Before Taking Oath: Who Was the Recipient?

Maharashtra CM: Devendra Fadnavis takes oath as Maharashtra Chief Minister on December 5 at Azad Maidan. In a sweet gesture, a little before that, the newborn Chief Minister had gifted a little something special to his mother: Sarita Fadnavis. The gift was not so much of material possession as it was a special act of personal reverence by taking her name on his invitation card to take the oath.

The state's Chief Secretary Sujata Sonik issued the invitation to Fadnavis for his swearing-in ceremony the first time, addressing him as "Devendra Sarita Gangadharrao Fadnavis." This is a sharp contrast to his previous two oaths, where the invitation had only his father's name, Gangadharrao Fadnavis, printed on it.

Fadnavis will be taking the chief ministership for the third consecutive time. He always displayed respect and care about family. Recently, when questioned, Sarita Fadnavis said Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister himself, considers her son as his own; how proud he is with regard to his son's achievements.

Sarita Fadnavis usually keeps away from the limelight, and she has hardly attended political functions. However, this is a first instance where her name is seen being officially mentioned with her son's in a government ceremony.

This tribute of honoring his mother speaks of the tight family values and bonds he has adhered to through his life. His father, Gangadharrao Fadnavis, was a strong leader of the Janata Party and BJP; he died during Fadnavis's childhood.
