Vasai: A man posing as a police officer has been arrested by Manikpur Police for extorting money from couples at the Vasai Skywalk. The accused, Rahul More (40), who was previously a clerk in the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation's health department, had been suspended due to misconduct.
The Vasai Skywalk, often deserted, has become a spot where couples gather, particularly at night. Taking advantage of this, More would approach the couples, pretending to be a police officer, and threaten them before demanding money. His actions were brought to light when one of the victims reported the incident to the Manikpur Police.
Following the complaint, the police registered a case and promptly arrested More. The investigation revealed his prior suspension from the municipal corporation, adding another layer to his criminal activities. The case has raised concerns about the safety and security of public spaces in the area.
