Major Accident in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh: Bus Carrying 25 Passengers Falls 200 Feet Into Gorge, Many Feared Dead

A tragic road accident occurred in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, when a private bus plunged into a deep gorge, shattering on impact. The accident occurred near Shakelhar in the Ani area of Kullu district. According to eyewitnesses, the bus was carrying 20 to 25 passengers, which were traveling from Karsog to Ani. Many passengers are feared to have lost their lives in the accident, with several reported injured.
The bus went off the road and plunged about 200 feet down the cliff, where it sustained major damage. Eyewitnesses claimed to have seen the bus totally crushed with some of the injured lying scattered all over the wreckage. The local residents and the emergency teams immediately launched a rescue operation after the accident. Police personnel also reached the site to help in the rescue work.
Rescue Operations and Eyewitness Accounts
The damage was severe, and it is believed that the driver lost control of the vehicle on a sharp turn. After the smash, many passengers were trapped inside the mangled wreckage, with some crawling out by themselves. A very disturbing video emerged showing the havoc, where local residents worked tirelessly to extract the injured from the wreck.
It would be said that an onlooker reported that before observing the bus falling into a gorge, he had witnessed its heavy crashing sound; as the cries for help issued inside the vehicle were reported.
The local villagers ran at the spot and informed about the accident to the policemen. Many of the passenger who got injured have reached nearby hospitals in personal transports.
As of now, the casualty figure remains unknown, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation. Rescue operations are still ongoing, and survivors and victims are being treated. The police continue to reconstruct what may have led to such an accident. One eyewitness described a bus "completely flattened," with people trapped inside calling for help.
