Major Mishap in Prayagraj Ahead of Mahakumbh: Tower Collapses During Wire Work; 8 Injured, Worker Loses Leg
A tragic accident occurred in Prayagraj as preparations for the upcoming Mahakumbh were underway. A high-tension wire tower collapsed in Sarai Inayat's Jagbandhan village, injuring eight workers. One worker reportedly lost a leg due to the accident.
The accident occurred while workers were pulling high tension wires. The sudden fall of the tower caused commotion as some of the workers are said to be trapped underneath the debris. Emergency teams including police and medical teams, rushed to the scene and a rescue operation was initiated immediately. The injured workers were rushed to SRNA Hospital, where two are in critical condition.
Workers Injured in the Accident
The injured workers, named Kasim, Amir, Abdul, Aniruddh Singh, Salim, Chottan, and Putul Sheikh, belong to Malda district of West Bengal. The investigation by the authorities has begun over the cause of the accident, which occurred at about 1 PM on Saturday. The site is located at a distance of around 15 km from the venue of Mahakumbh.
How the Accident Took Place
A wire accident occurred when wires on the Ring Road, about where the construction work is presently going on near the building place, were being tightened while workers were upgrading the new infrastructure. They were allegedly replacing old towers with bigger, taller ones, before the mishap struck off, and a panic run ensued in the area by news of the mishap hitting the town.
