Abhishek Banerjee, an MP, was on Saturday appointed as all-India general secretary of the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee’s appointment was confirmed at a press meet in Kolkata.
TMC leader Partha Chatterjee confirmed the news. The decision comes after the working committee’s thought that one person will hold just one post in the party. And the core committee has also duly given its approval.
The announcement comes after two crucial meetings. “Our party chief Mamata Banerjee has nominated MP Abhishek Banerjee as the all-India general secretary of the TMC,” Chatterjee said.
Moreover, Mr Banerjee will be replacing party leader Subrata Bakshi as the national general secretary. Mr Partha also announced other appointments to party posts.
