However, the Rajasthan Police acted swiftly and arrested the accused, who has now been identified as an assistant to a former minister. The police have already started questioning the individual to understand the motive behind the threat. He claimed in his statement that he knew the man who had threatened him to be a supporter of Naresh Meena, one of the men accused in the infamous slap case that came during the by-election. According to Rathore, he also said previously, "I am also a leader like you," referring to his own political status.

According to Rathore, after leaving his house after the session of parliament, he received a phone call. When he answered the call, the caller began using abusive language immediately. The people who were with Rathore dialed the number back, and the caller abused them as well. Rathore then lodged a written complaint with the police, urging them to investigate the case. Police traced the call and found that the SIM card was registered in the name of a person from Anupgarh.

The police managed to trace and arrested the accused later that evening. Post the incident, a few political leaders- Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and state incharge, Radhmohan Das Agarwal among others-called up to Rathore to solicit information regarding the situation and extend support. This shocking episode has brought into the focus the increasing threats to public personalities in Rajasthan. The police continue their investigation with the motive and possible political rivalry link still unknown.
