Man Becomes Lawrence's 'Disciple,' Idolizes Gangster; Reveals Motive Post-Arrest

Singh told police that he was drawn to Bishnoi's personality and believed him to be influential. He said he posted images and videos of Bishnoi on his social media accounts, especially Instagram, as a means to gain more followers and status among friends. It's been a concern for the Ajmer authority because such instances are not a solitary incident. Youngster named Dipesh alias "Dipsa," too had been arrested earlier for paying obsequiousness towards Lawrence Bishnoi and promoting social media following about the image of this gangster. Just as Dipsa and the suspect under consideration thought Lawrence Bishnoi was an idol, these social networking profiles were quite much liked.

Ajmer Superintendent of Police (SP) Vandita Rana also released a press statement over the issue, which is increasing day by day. She said the city has been witnessing increased youngsters who have  been found to be fan-followers of gangsters and dacoits in the social networking sites. She said several youths are enthusiastically liking and following Facebook and Instagram pages on such dacoits. This indeed raises an alarm for law enforcement.

This team has been created to watch out for such activities so that the criminal figures will not be glorified by the youths of the city. The authorities are expecting that this will make young individuals refrain from and avoid any influence of such criminal activities, thus creating a more secure online and offline space.
