Manipur Government's Inaction on QNet Fraud: A Betrayal of Trust and Accountability

Manipur Government: The QNet fraud has devastated over 2,000 people in Manipur, yet the state government has failed to take action. This massive scam, perpetrated by the controversial network marketing company, has left victims struggling financially and emotionally. The government's inaction is alarming, as thousands of citizens have been scammed with false promises of high returns and financial stability.

The Manipur QNet Fraud Victims’ Welfare Association has been actively working to expose the fraudulent practices of QNet, holding press conferences and submitting detailed complaints to the Cyber Crime Department and Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Despite providing substantial evidence, including chat transcripts, payment receipts, and names of fraudsters, the authorities have failed to respond or take action.

Public Outcry and Government Silence

Victims have taken to social media to share their stories, highlighting how vulnerable individuals—especially unemployed youth, relief camp residents, and ordinary citizens—were lured into the scam. Despite this overwhelming public outcry, the government has failed to intervene. The contrast between Manipur’s inaction and the legal measures taken by other states to tackle QNet is both stark and troubling.

QNet’s fraudulent practices have been widely exposed, with the company being banned in multiple countries for running pyramid schemes. Legal action in states like Maharashtra and Karnataka has resulted in arrests and account freezes, showing that effective action against such scams is possible. However, Manipur’s persistent silence raises critical questions about the state’s priorities and commitment to justice.

The Urgent Need for Action

The victims are calling for justice and accountability, urging the government to register First Information Reports (FIRs), conduct thorough investigations, and take swift action to bring the fraudsters to justice. Awareness campaigns are also needed to protect others from falling victim to similar scams in the future.

The media and social platforms have been instrumental in raising awareness, but public pressure alone cannot replace the need for government intervention. The failure to act risks further eroding public trust in the administration and prolonging the suffering of the victims.
