In preparation for Ganesh Chaturthi, authorities have imposed a ban on the sale of all types of meat in Bengaluru and several other districts on Saturday, September 7. This includes the sale of mutton, goat, chicken, pork, and fish.

Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has issued a directive banning the slaughter of animals and the sale of meat within the city limits for the day. The order applies to all meat shops and slaughterhouses, as confirmed by Joint Director of Animal Husbandry.

Mysuru: Similarly, the Mysuru City Corporation has mandated a complete halt on the sale of meat products, including goat, sheep, chicken, pork, and fish, within the municipal limits on the same day. Health officials have instructed meat vendors to close their shops for the day.

Chamarajanagar: In Chamarajanagar, the municipal authorities have also enforced a ban on animal slaughter and meat sales for Ganesh Chaturthi. Those found violating the ban will face legal action, including the revocation of licenses.

Yadiyur Lake Immersion Facility: In related news, the Yadiyur Lake immersion facility in Bengaluru’s Padmanabhanagar has been prepared for the immersion of Ganesh idols. The facility will be open from September 7 to September 17, 2024, for immersion, with high traffic expected during the initial days. To maintain cleanliness, immersion will not be permitted on September 10. Only idols made of clay will be accepted; those made from plaster of Paris (PoP) will not be allowed.

Authorities urge the public to comply with these regulations to ensure a safe and orderly celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi.
