Fugitive Mehul Choksi’s legal team in London claimed that he was kidnapped on May 23 by four UK nationals. Out of those four, three of them were reportedly of Indian origin. Choksi was then taken to Dominica from Antigua and Barbuda.

The legal team is led by lawyer Michael Polak. It says that the four had travelled from London to Antigua and Dominica.

Earlier Mr Polar, while addressing a press conference had said that, a UK national called Barabara Jarabic alias Barbara Jose flew from London to Antigua with another individual.

Jarabica reportedly then flew to Dominica on a private aircraft with the same individual and stayed there for a few days before coming back to Antigua. The next day both, along with two other individuals, Gurmit Singh and Gurjit Bhandal, flew to London, Polak claims.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)also said that the fugitive diamond merchant Choksi remains in the custody of Dominican authorities with certain legal proceedings underway. The MEA asserts that it will make all efforts to bring back fugitives to face justice in India.

Soon after Mehul Choksi was apprehended in Dominica, Antiguan PM Browne had asked Dominica to hand Choksi over to India directly.

Moreover, Dominica is not among those 58 countries with which India has either extradition treaties or arrangements. But it has the same with Antigua and Barbuda.

Mehul Choksi is a fugitive, wanted in connection with a Rs 13,500 crore loan fraud in Punjab National Bank. Lately, Choksi went missing from the island.
