MK Stalin Slams LIC for Hindi on Tamil Nadu Website
Hindi on LIC website in Tamil Nadu attracts strict criticism from DMK CM MK Stalin, who termed it as flagrant cultural and linguistic imposition. In the social media post on X, which was formerly known as Twitter, he levelled allegations against LIC for imposition of Hindi for not providing regional and English options first to users coming from Tamil Nadu.
Stalin Slams LIC for Hindi Imposition
Stalin condemned what he described as the LIC's disregard for linguistic diversity. The LIC website has been reduced into a tool for Hindi imposition. Even the option for selection in English is displayed in Hindi! said Stalin, which he referred to as a betrayal of the majority of contributors to LIC, who belong to different linguistic backgrounds. We demand an immediate rollback of this linguistic tyranny, Stalin declared, tagging his post with the hashtag #StopHindiImposition.
Joining the criticism, Dr. S. Ramadoss, founder of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), condemned the language switch as a "blatant imposition of Hindi on non-Hindi-speaking communities." In his post on X, Ramadoss highlighted the persistent attempts by the central government and its agencies to impose Hindi across India, particularly in Tamil Nadu. "Even after facing criticism repeatedly, they never learn. LIC and the central government must realize that they work for all Indians and not just Hindi-speaking people," he said.

It has antagonized passions in Tamil Nadu to a great extent, as language politics remain sensitive topics for such a state. It has been a long-standing opposition to an aggressive attempt by the central government to dilute the regional languages. This controversy is likely to fuel further debate on this issue of linguistic inclusion in India.
