Mother Demands Justice: UP Police Face Backlash After Son's Alleged Encounter Death in Disturbing Case!
In a distressing turn of events, a mother from Jaunpur has filed a plea in court against several police officials, alleging that her son, Mangesh Yadav, was wrongfully killed in a police encounter. The complaint comes just days after Yadav was reported dead in an alleged encounter linked to a robbery case.
According to Sheila Devi, the mother of the deceased, Mangesh was taken from their home in the early hours of September 2 by police officers who claimed he was being taken for questioning. Sheila alleges that the officers misled her, promising that her son would be released after interrogation. Instead, she received news days later instructing her to collect his body from the Sultanpur post-mortem house.
Details of the Incident
The case revolves around a robbery that occurred on August 28 at a jewelry store in Sultanpur, where 12 armed men reportedly stole jewelry and cash worth approximately ₹1.35 crore. Following the incident, police apprehended three suspects on September 2. In the ensuing chaos, Mangesh Yadav, who was allegedly involved in the robbery, was killed in a police encounter on September 5.
Sheila Devi’s petition, submitted to the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court, accuses Sultanpur Superintendent of Police (SP) and various officials, including the STF in charge, of orchestrating her son's death. She claims they devised a plan to eliminate him under the guise of a legitimate encounter. Sheila demanded a formal FIR against the police officers involved, as well as a thorough investigation into her son’s death.
Allegations of Misconduct
In her petition, Sheila stated that after Mangesh was taken away, officers returned to her home on September 3 and 4, filming her while pressuring her to falsely claim that her son had not been home for the past few months. Following the tragic news of Mangesh's death, Sheila reported that she has not received the post-mortem report despite having paid the required fee, and she alleged that the SP denied her access to this vital information.
The court has registered Sheila's complaint and has summoned the station head of Baksha police station for a report. A hearing has been scheduled for October 11.
Context of the Case
The situation has heightened tensions in the region, especially with political figures reacting to the allegations. Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav condemned the police's actions and called for an impartial investigation into the encounter. The public outcry reflects broader concerns about police accountability and the use of force in law enforcement.
As the investigation unfolds, Sheila Devi continues to seek justice for her son, emphasizing the need for accountability among those sworn to protect the community.
