Motihari: Courageous Watchman Thwarts ATM Robbery, Leads to Arrest of 6 Gang Members

In Motihari, a daring attempt to rob a State Bank of India (SBI) ATM was thwarted due to the bravery and quick thinking of the watchman, resulting in the arrest of six high-tech criminals.

The incident took place at Nawada Chowk in the Machargawan Panchayat under the Kotwa police station area. Six armed men arrived in a four-wheeler with the intent to rob the ATM. Thanks to the alertness of the watchmen, Vijay Kumar and Ruplal Rai, the police were able to intercept and apprehend the gang.

The arrested individuals are believed to be members of an inter-state gang. The police seized several suspicious items from the vehicle, including a jammer machine designed to disrupt mobile tower networks, gas cutters, iron rods, paint sprays, multiple mobile phones, and other equipment intended for the robbery. The discovery of the jammer machine, in particular, raised significant concerns for the authorities due to its potential implications for security.

The incident unfolded when a car arrived at the ATM around midnight. The occupants asked the watchmen for directions to Sangrampur but took a different route, raising the guards' suspicions. Sensing something was amiss, the watchmen informed the police. Although the car initially drove away, it soon returned, allowing the police to apprehend the suspects and their vehicle.

Initially, the police treated the incident as routine, but a thorough search of the vehicle in the morning revealed the full extent of the criminal plot, shocking the authorities. Senior officials were immediately notified, and intensive interrogations of the suspects followed.

Most of the arrested individuals hail from different districts, including Punaura in Sitamarhi, Taryani in Sheohar, and Majhaulia in West Champaran. One of the suspects is reportedly from a nearby police station area, prompting rigorous questioning.

The police are conducting further investigations and raids at various locations to gather more information and prevent any hindrances in the investigation. To ensure the integrity of the ongoing investigation, the police have not disclosed the names of the arrested individuals.
