Madhya Pradesh government to ban sales of alcohol at 17 religious sites, including Ujjain, Maihar and Orchha.

The government of Madhya Pradesh has announced to take a bold step and ensure that alcohol is not sold at 17 prominent places of worship in the state, among which are Ujjain, Maihar, and Orchha. This decision will address the new alcohol policy, which will be officially cleared by the Cabinet in the Maheshwar district's Khargone before the end of the month.
The new policy, which could be implemented by April, is to prevent the younger generation from getting influenced by the evil effects of alcohol. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav focussed on the detrimental side of alcohol consumption, saying that there was a need to keep young people in the correct path because they are the future of this country.
This ban will cover 7 Gram Panchayats, 6 Nagar Palikas, and one municipal corporation. The sites included in this initiative hold religious significance, such as places associated with Lord Krishna and Lord Ram. The government intends to develop these places as pilgrimage sites, creating an environment that aligns with their cultural and spiritual value.
Spiritual and Social Commitment
The move to prohibit alcohol sales near these religious sites is part of the continuing efforts put in by the state government to cultivate a society alive with spirituality and well-being. This year, Chief Minister Yadav had announced that places associated with Lord Ram and Lord Krishna would be developed into major pilgrim centers. This alcohol ban is viewed as a step toward that direction, as the sites maintain the sacred atmosphere, while health and safety are further promoted among the visitors.
This decision of the government will contribute significantly toward spiritual rejuvenation of the state as well as to alcohol-related harm among young people.
