Who is Phangnon Konyak?
One of the major female leaders from Nagaland is Phangnon Konyak. She pursued her early education at Holy Cross Senior Secondary School, Dimapur and went to Delhi for her further study and graduated from the University of Delhi. She is known for being the first woman to ever emerge from Nagaland who had become a Rajya Sabha MP.
Phangnon Konyak Writes to Rajya Sabha Chairman
Following the incident, Konyak wrote to Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, stating that Rahul Gandhi’s behavior was inappropriate. She mentioned feeling uncomfortable and demanded action to ensure her safety.
Konyak’s Allegations Against Rahul Gandhi
Phangnon Konyak claimed that, while she was protesting near the Makar Gate of Parliament with other MPs, Rahul Gandhi approached her, yelled at her and made her feel very uncomfortable. In a statement, she said it was unfortunate and added that one would not expect such behavior coming from a senior parliamentarian. Konyak requested additional security following the incident, too.
