Narmada Dam Levels Rise Rapidly: 93,000 Cubic Meters Per Second Inflow After Indira Sagar Gate Release

As of today, the Narmada Dam is receiving an inflow of 93,000 cubic meters per second. This follows a significant release from the Indira Sagar Dam in Madhya Pradesh, which is located upstream. Yesterday, 12 gates of the Indira Sagar Dam were opened, allowing 350,000 cubic meters per second of water to flow downstream. The water is expected to take approximately 32 hours to reach the Narmada Dam.

Due to recent rainfall in the catchment area, the water level at the Narmada Dam has risen to 126 meters. The dam’s maximum capacity is 138.68 meters, meaning it is now 12 meters away from reaching its full capacity. Currently, the dam is also experiencing inflows from local sources.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as the dam approaches its maximum water level.
