Frequent travelers on expressways Noida-Greater Noida, Yamuna Expressway, Agra-Lucknow should gear up for new traffic regulations that are to be strictly implemented from December 15. The Uttar Pradesh Administration has declared reduced speed norms for vehicles during the cold winter months to check over speeding-related accidents. Offending the new rules will prove costly as hefty fines shall be imposed.

New Updated Speed Limits

Under the new norms, light and heavy vehicles plying on expressways that connect Delhi, Greater Noida, Agra, and Lucknow would be allowed only at certain speed limits - 100 kmph for light ones and 75 kmph for heavy vehicles. Vehicles crossing the said limit would undergo fines of ₹2,000 for light and ₹4,000 for heavy vehicles.

Why Change?

The new speed limits are implemented in consideration of winter conditions. Fog and low visibility increase the chance of accidents, so it is a time to change speed limits to ensure safety on roads.

Enforcement Teams on Alert

Monitoring teams have been stationed at important stretches such as Yamuna Expressway between Zero Point and Jewar Toll Plaza to ensure the new regulations are strictly enforced. It will actively monitor the speeding of vehicles and issue fines for its violations, which will definitely make sure people follow the updated rules.
