New Year’s Eve celebrations in India set a new milestone in liquor sales, with Uttar Pradesh topping at ₹600 crore and other states like Telangana and Karnataka contributing significantly. Alongside drinks, snacks like bhujia and ice cubes were highly sought after to fuel the festivities.

Indians ushered in the New Year with unprecedented glee, and liquor became a prime concern for most. Some prayed and indulged in good deeds, while others went in for high-decibel DJ bashes and heavy-duty liquor guzzling. Liquor sales across the country witnessed a never-before surge.

UP Leads the Booze Fest

Topping the list was Uttar Pradesh at a whopping ₹600 crore in alcohol sales. The New Year bade to be upon its head as Noida went on to sell ₹16 crores in two days alone, revealing the city's appetite to celebrate.

Delhi-NCR and Telangana in hot pursuit

Delhi-NCR was close to it with liquor sales amounting to ₹400 crore. Then came Telangana with ₹402 crores. It was like people in these two regions celebrated New Year in earnest and put a stamp on the country's map of celebrations.

Karnataka and Kerala enter the fray

Karnataka accounted for ₹308 crore in alcohol sales, while Kerala added ₹108 crore to the booze bash. Tourism hotspots Dehradun and Nainital in Uttarakhand also joined in on the fun, chalking up ₹15 crore in alcohol sales in the state.

Savories, Ice, and All Things Nice

Online platforms witnessed a corresponding boom in snack and ice sales. Potato bhujia, chips, and ice cubes sold out fast, as did all other essentials to ensure that each party remained fully stocked and without any interruption.
