Nitin Gadkari Calls for Introspection Among Leaders, Emphasizes Unity for 'Vishwa Guru' Status

Mumbai — Union Transport Minister and senior BJP leader Nitin Gadkari has sparked discussions within and outside the party with his recent call for leaders to engage in self-reflection. Speaking at a book launch in Pune, Gadkari encouraged writers and intellectuals to express their opinions freely, stressing the importance of addressing criticism with tolerance.

In the wake of setbacks in the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP is gearing up for the Maharashtra Assembly elections, making Gadkari's remarks particularly significant. He emphasized support for democracy and secularism, stating that personal identity should not be determined by caste, religion, or language.

"We must respect diverse opinions," Gadkari said. "All religious texts convey the same message. If caste divisions and communal strife persist, we cannot advance as a nation. Religious belief is a personal choice. Only by promoting social harmony can we aspire to be a 'Vishwa Guru'."

With the BJP's influence waning in the state, Gadkari's stance, closely aligned with the RSS, could play a crucial role in the upcoming elections. His comments come as Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Maharashtra in the coming days, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent trip. The political landscape in Maharashtra remains dynamic as parties prepare for the challenges ahead.
