‘One Nation, One Election: Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha expressed his support for the ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal, stating that it would benefit the country by saving time and money. He urged the opposition not to oppose government policies unnecessarily. Kushwaha also criticized the Grand Alliance, claiming it functions on self-interest.

‘One Nation, One Election: Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha has strongly supported the 'One Nation, One Election' proposal. He said that through this system, a huge amount of time and money will be saved, which would benefit the country in total.

Kushwaha said

"This is a very good proposal, and it must be passed. I appeal to the opposition to refrain from opposing every move of the government unnecessarily. If the government makes a mistake, opposition is justified."

Criticism of the Grand Alliance

Commenting on Tejashwi Yadav's seat-sharing remarks directed at Congress, Upendra Kushwaha criticized the functioning of the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan).
He said that the alliance is not based on mutual goals but on self-interest.
Such alliances are bound to collapse, said Kushwaha, adding, "This is their ultimate fate."

What is 'One Nation, One Election'?

The 'One Nation, One Election' policy seeks simultaneous Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections in the country. It is said to:

Reduce Cost and Time: Curtailing frequent elections to save on the time of frequent polls.
Bring Stability: Allow governments to pursue governance instead of campaigning and campaigning again.
Reduce Disruption: Avoid electoral disruption.
