The Union Home Ministry has released the names of the recipients for Padma awards 2021, the highest civilian award of the country. The award is given under three categories, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri.

The President of the country confers these awards at ceremonial events at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. It takes place every year around March or April.
However, the government declares the names of the recipients for this award every year on Republic Day. President Ram Nath Kovind has given his approval for 119 Padma Awards this year.

President has approved the Padma Vibhushan for former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe, following his landmark achievement in public affairs. The list of other recipients of the Padma awards 2021 includes noted singer sp Balasubrahmanyam.

Besides noted signer and former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe, the list includes Former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, former Principal Secretary, PM Modi, Nripendra Misra, former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan (posthumous), former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi for Padma Bhushan this year.
